9:41p Running Men
Ok, who are the guys in brown outfits (not UPS) who run around downtown (literally run around downtown) with no regard to such minor things as crosswalks or traffic signals or traffic or, well, safety of any kind? I assume they're some kind of kamikaze messenger service, but I see them all the time when I get off work, and they're always in a real hurry to get somewhere.
Also, on an unrelated note, having to get a prescription for Advil Cold & Sinus is not ok.

9:28p Backup Software Recommendations?
Hi DPers!
My laptop runs Vista, and I just got a nifty new external hard drive for backup purposes. I'm looking for good backup software that will do automatic backups based on a schedule (set by me), and will prompt me to plug the hard drive in if it isn't connected when it's time to do the backup. Any suggestions? I'd like to pay $60 or less, if possible. Thanks!

9:19p Huge long shot...
But... does anyone have the King 5 morning news from Sunday? 9am-ish time range. I highly doubt it since even King 5 doesn't have it but I have to try. :)
Thanks

8:31p Possibly Moving, Going to Need some Ethnic Goodies
So, my husband's up for a promotion at work that would have us moving to your wonderful, albeit wet city. Which is great, since my mum's now in Portland, so we'll be close and all.
I will, however, require several items from shop, and will be very sad if I can't get them in Seattle.
Does anyone know where one might find such treats as McVitie's Ginger nuts and Jaffa cakes (I'll settle for Burton's, but they're just all wrong), Walker's crisps, preferably in smoky bacon and roast chicken, and some proper loose-leaf Christmas teas. Basically, British grocers. Please tell me there are a few of them sprinkled about the city.

7:57p Free things to do
I'm on a budget these days, so no more going to bars for me. Also, I don't really have any friends. What are free, social things I can do in Seattle, especially evenings?
Have any of you tried Meetin or Meetup and did it work for you?
Snark away if you like.

6:18p Wardrobe help
Hey everyone,
So, I've reached that time in my life where I think it's finally appropriate to revamp my image. Today's earlier post about LA fashion has inspired me to seek help from you wonderful LJers, as my situation is pretty dire. I'm 27 and dying to get some new clothes, yet fashion and I have always been at odds. I still wear some t-shirts I had in high school. I've been wearing the same necklace and belt for 10 years! Yeah. I've never had female friends of the sort who could help out with this, either. My roomies now are all around 21 years old, so they tend not to understand why I'm just not picking up what they're putting down in the clothes world, if you know what I mean. Soooo...
(And just FYI, I feel incredibly dorky for posting this.) Would anyone want to be my shopping buddy/guide? I suck at buying women's clothes. I suck at coordinating. I suck at playing up my assets, if you know what I mean. I pretty much wear men's tank tops and board shorts in the summer, and I just started wearing women's jeans sometimes. Argh. I do well at dressing up super fancy, but casualwear and going out-wear just totally escapes me. If anyone is interested in helping me with my FashionCrisis(tm), please let me know! I'm just not good at looking like a late-20s girl, and I'd like to improve. I'm more than willing to purchase a few items of clothes for someone who lends me a hand (and a critical, but nice eye). I also do photography, proofreading/editing, and a host of other random things that you may want/need help with in return for giving me your fashion assistance! Thanks for reading, and I hope that those of you who are utterly uninterested at least got a good chuckle.

6:22p Fashion basics?
You guys have been really generous with advice regarding the logisitics of our move to your region: cost, home hunting, jobs and more. Now I have a fun question for you: What are the fashion staples of an L.A. girl's wardrobe? Moving from NE Ohio, and Pittsburgh before that, I love my home, but don't want to look like a midwesterner! What are clothing, hair and make-up no-no's that scream "transplant?" What are cool, functional pieces, cosmetic trends (not of the surgical kind, lol), and hair styles that are a big deal in your area right now?
